2018 is finally here, and the 47th Alafia is only a few days away. Ronnie and I are so excited and looking forward to seeing all of this past year’s hard work come into play. We wanted to take just a couple of minutes of your time to tell you a few things.
First and foremost, we wanted to say that we hope and pray that each and every one of you have a safe journey to the Alafia. We are looking forward to seeing all of you. If you need anything just let us know. We camp at the woodpile so will be easy to find.
Second we want to remind you of a few things you will need to remember upon your arrival.
1. In order to gain entrance into the encampment, be sure to arrive before 4 PM, so that you can get your registration packet and medallion. Remember that once the rendezvous starts, if you leave the property, you will be required to show your medallion with a photo ID to the Deputy Sheriff, in order to reenter after 4 PM.
2. Rendezvous starts Friday night January 19th at 5 PM. All vehicles must be out of the encampment by this time. No exceptions.
3. Ronnie and I are trying very hard to ensure the rendezvous experience and ask that you please help us do this. Once rendezvous starts, vehicles will not be permitted in the primitive encampment for longer than 1 hour. Nothing modern shall be visible. Examples:
a. All coolers and propane tanks kept properly covered.
b. Plastic trash bags must be covered when taking them to the dumpsters.
c. No modern sunglasses.
d. Modern shoes are only allowed for medical reasons, but cover them.
e. Please carry your eating necessities with you so that you can transfer your food and drink from paper containers when leaving a food establishment. No modern containers or utensils are to be visible outside of these establishments.
4. If you have any issues in your territory, please contact your Territorial Governor first. They are responsible for handling everything in their territories. Ronnie and I are relying on the Alafia staff to do their jobs. They will all be able to contact us immediately, if need be.
There are so many NEW things happening at rendezvous this year. I cannot possibly list them all here for you now, so be sure to carefully READ the GATE BOOK. It has been completely redesigned, is user-friendly and very informative. If you need an extra Gate Book they will be available at the General Store located by the stockade fence.
Well I think that's about it. We don't want to take up anymore of your time away from packing and getting everything ready for 2018 Alafia River Rendezvous®.
Have a safe journey, whether you or walking, riding, driving, or flying.
See you all soon,
Your humble servants,
Ronnie and Diane Capp
